The Last Of The American Flatware

Liberty Tabletop Profile

Made in America

Sherrill Manufacturing, known for Liberty Tabletop products, has an admirable and increasingly unique claim to fame: it is the only remaining flatware manufacturer in the U.S.

Even the quality stainless steel it uses is made right here in America. Sherrill tests for lead and other toxic trace elements. There are no shortcuts in the making of safe, durable products. Not only that, but high-grade stainless steel retains its appealing luster and resists staining for generations.

Sherrill Manufacturing has been at this for more than 100 years and is frequently lauded by the media. The New York Times, ABC, and NBC are just a few outlets that have featured the company. Since other American industries are disappearing in droves — according to The Times, there’s only one whistle maker, one barber pole manufacturer and a handful of sneaker factories left — Sherrill’s longevity is impressive.

Cutting the Cake

Wedding cake evolved from the ancient Roman tradition of breaking bread over the bride’s head for good luck.

New At SilverSuperstore.com – Engravable Trophies!

Trophies From Silver Superstore

Since ancient times, trophies have been awarded to commemorate great achievements.

The first trophies were monuments to victory in battle, but you probably wouldn’t want those in your trophy case at home today. Most were living human captives or shrunken heads.

The English word was coined in 1550 after the French word “trophee,” which means “prize of war.” The oldest existing sports trophies are the Carlisle Bells. They are housed in Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery in Carlisle, Cumbria, U.K. The bells were awarded by Queen Elizabeth I for a horse race that has been run since 1559.

Our selection of trophies is diverse and elegant. Whether you’re awarding individuals or entire teams, they are suitable for athletes, academics, employees, retirees, entertainers, community leaders or anyone else who deserves special recognition.

These finely crafted trophies are sure to make the recipients feel special. They are destined to become treasured reminders of family history:

Reed & Barton At Silver Superstore

Reed & Barton: A History Of Beautiful Design

For nearly two centuries, the name Reed & Barton has been synonymous with superior craftsmanship and timeless elegance. The company is family-owned and is one of the oldest silversmiths in the U.S. It is largely known for its popular flatware patterns, but it manufactures hundreds of other items that delight collectors or become cherished family heirlooms.

A History in Silver

Reed & Barton was founded under another name in Massachusetts in 1824. Its earliest products were made of Britannia metal, a pewter alloy appreciated for its smooth, silvery finish. Many are surprised to learn that the Oscar statuette is made of Britannia dipped in gold. In subsequent years, Reed & Barton designers expanded their skills with pewter, silverplate and sterling silver.

In 1858, when silver was discovered in Nevada, Reed & Barton capitalized on the increased demand for solid pieces. Not only was silver durable and pleasing to the eye, but it was easy to melt down and convert to currency during hard times.
